1) Each person should bring a single wrapped gift that has an approximate value of $15-$25. Gifts should be funny or odd in nature, so all sorts of silly things like whoopee cushions, ugly ties or even household geeky gadgets make great white elephant gifts.
2) Before everyone arrives to the party, create numbers on pieces of paper and put them into a bowl (one number per guest). Have each guest draw their own number when they arrive at the party. This is how people will take turns selecting which gift they will choose from those opened up later on during the game.
3) Once all guests have arrived have them sit in a circle with their numbered tickets handy – this is now time for “opening”!
